Careers

Here are some of the career paths in the Life Of Louis!

Welder

The son of a carpenter I found at a young age I had a natural talent for the trades. When I was 18 I started my career as welder driving other welders site to site as an apprentice. Two and a half years later I had lived in Fort St John almost 2 years and was now a Red seal welder. In the last 6 years of being a Journeyman Welder I have worked on some remote, extraordinary and unique projects. In the future I hope to pursue my career as welder to help afford the guiding hobby.

Climbing Guide

I started my Journey in climbing 5 years ago. I found climbing through a journey of jumping off cliffs into water, only realizing I was doing it wrong and that I should be climbing up the cliffs. Once I moved to Squamish I found this whole new vertical world I wanted to explore. After suffering reoccurring shoulder injuries at the start of my journey I have now had surgery and am stronger than ever. I have found a desire to share my vertical pursuits with others and I hope to complete my Assist Rock Guide course through ACMG this coming summer 2023.

Sea Kayak Guide

My desire to pursue sea kayaking as a career started when I was in high school. My first 5 day sea kayaking trip was a life changing experience at 15. Further when I first realized the seriousness of my shoulder injuries I took up sea kayaking to help strengthen it and give me a new activity of adventure. After my 10 day DIY (do it yourself) trip in broken islands, Ucluelet, I knew that a career in sea kayak guiding was a career I could enjoy forever.
