My Story

My Mission: I plan to positively influence sustainable growth in the world. Through my career as a welder and pursuing guide I will share, educate, and learn what motivates us to work hard and play hard.

My Vision: Through a life of Adventurism, I would like to use climbing, sea kayaking and welding as well as my pursuits as an outdoorsman to facilitate growth, natural connection and a mental, spiritual awakening in the outdoor world.

There is one place in this world that has shaped me, my values, perceptions, and opinions most in this world. That place is our family cabin on Chaunigan lake in the Chilcotin. Less than 20 kilometers from Chilko Lake as the crow flies it is some of the most stunning wilderness the province has to offer. Thanks to my grandfather who played the role of my father in life I was able to spend every summer from 8 to 16 at the cabin. My grandfather and this place showed me a natural world I had not seen in the fast paced life my mother lived. It also gave me an escape from a sometimes-toxic family dynamic. So, I grew up on values of the natural world and connecting to it. I compare society to the balance I find in nature and realize that the world we live in is chaos. But when I step away and get lost in nature, I find a perfectly calculated balance and harmony that exists no where else. Because of this I have chased the outdoors like a drug. The list of activities I pursue from most addicted to least addicted goes like this: Time at the cabin, climbing, hunting, sea kayaking, hiking, fishing, freediving, skiing, canyoneering and canoeing. I find I value these activities most when I use them as a tool to for getting myself and my friends outside. I love sharing my passion too everyone including strangers and I hope to do it for the rest of my days.

I was born at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver around nine in the morning November 15th, 1994. Son of a lawyer, my mother and cabinetmaker, my father, I spent the first 2 years of life in a house on Fraser St. in Vancouver. After my parents divorced my mother bought a place and moved my brother and I to Lion’s Bay till she later married my stepfather when I was 8 years old. Myself, my mother and my brother all moved to the place I now call home, our house in Parksville on Vancouver Island. Throughout my teenage years I moved around a lot. Between getting expelled from private school in Victoria and moving out at 16 I found a rebellious side of myself and grew up too quickly. I spent my summers working at ranches and lodges in the Chilcotin only then to move back to Vancouver to start my career as a welder. After 1 year of apprenticeship in Vancouver, I spent 2 years in Fort St John and Northern Alberta working to complete my red seal. Eventually I settled on coming back and finding my hearts desire in Squamish. The last 4 years of living in Squamish I found a place I can call home. I have come to realize all the places I love most in life have a little piece I can find in Squamish.

Today I live in Kamloops pursuing my Adventure guide diploma education. I am studying this now as a 27-year-old, single white Caucasian male trying to expand on his skills to move away from my career as a Red Seal welder. Today when I do choose to work as a welder I have the capability to make decent money, this allows me to focus on my adventures. My hope is to find a balance in my career splitting my time between guiding climbing, kayaking and being a welder to supplement the guiding hobby.
